Disciplining Kids

by: Ica Velarde
Where is the Love?
I strongly disagree with the use of ironfist in disciplining children. The things that one parent would want to establish such as respect and discipline will not be enforced any better but will be degraded in some way. I believe so because a child will not understand eventually the purpose of hitting him or her. Any person who is it hit or bruised by another will not deliver respect to the later, simply because a person naturally knows that hitting is nowhere near the exercise of love we were introduced to. Another point that I strongly believe in that instead of respect and discipline (or whatever it is that parent wants to enforce) fear would be instilled in the child. This fear will lead to more unwanted things, like dishonesty, rebellion, lack of respect and unruly discipline. We do not want that right? Therefore ironfist shall be abolished as a medium of parenting. As parents, a couple must serve as a good example to their children and I do not think that hitting or punishing your children physically would do that job. Being a parent is not just a job, it’s a sacrifice one has to take and one has to exercise with love.

Just Like Dad

By Jeremy Santos Sr E

In the past, when people ask me what I want to be when I grow up, I would always answer specifically,
like, “I want to be a musician with my own recording label”, or, “I want to be a manager in my own
advertising company.” Although my answers are specific, and I would usually say it with conviction,
and I know that these things are where my strengths are, I would always have that feeling of uncertainty,
and start to ask myself, “is this really what I want?”, or “will I be content when I do this?”

These uncertainties became a problem when I needed to apply for college. I used to be so sure of what
I wanted to be, but now, I was starting to doubt myself.

Every other Saturday, I would go with my parents to a Gawad Kalinga site in Taguig where they are
caretakers in that area. I see them planning projects, and befriending the beneficiaries there, and I can
see that through their missionary work, they give these people hope, and love.

That was when I realized, I want to be just like my dad. He always tells me to open my heart to what
God would want for me, but now I realized that this is what he did. He is a VP in marketing and Sales
in their company, and at the same time, he does missionary work in GK and he and my mom are
member in the Couples for Christ Community. He he is surrounded by the people he loves, and at
the same time, he shares the love, given to Him by God, and shares it to the people in society who
need it the most. I cannot think of anything more rewarding than this.

I used to be uncertain of what I want to be when I grow up. But now I realized

Baby blankets as gifts

By:cloyd uyson
If you are asked by a close relative or a friend to stand as a godfather or godmother to his or her infant, your foremost preoccupation would be the special gift that you will bring during the baptism of your said godchild. As you think about what will be a good if not the best present for a newborn baby, the following suggestions may be of help. Well, the usual baby gift items may include mittens, shoes, and clothes. But the best gift you can ever give to a new born baby who may happen to be your godchild can definitely be the baby blankets. Why? Simply because these blankets are more practical to give and they will surely be used by the baby himself or herself. Baby blankets are not only for fashion but they are also for the baby’s protection from all harm and discomfort such as the cold weather. Among the most basic types of baby blankets are the following:

Embroidered baby blankets: This is the most bought type of baby blankets as a gift. You can actually use this idea to make yourbaby blanket gift more personalized and more unique compared to other blankets. You can embroider the name of the baby in the side or at the center of the blanket.
Blanket cake: This stylish gift packaging of a blanket is really in demand in today’s generation. It is attractive because of the different colors of blankets that are being used.

Knitted baby blanket: This type of baby blanket is suited for winter or cold days. Because of its thick fabric, babies are really protected from the cold weather.
Patched Baby Blanket: Patch baby blankets are one of the cutest style or pattern of baby blankets. You can actually visit some stores who offer this kind of service, and in reality you can also select what pattern they will be doing for the blanket that you have chosen.

Quilt baby blankets: Quilt blankets are best for a baby who seems sickly or has a low immune system. You can give this to them in order for them to be protected from the cold weather.

In conclusion, there are so many ways on how to make your gift or present a unique one. All you need is to have a creative mind and a fashionable taste. Blankets for babies are really important because it’s what they make them safe from the hazardous substances in their environment. For babies, blankets are their guard from the illnesses that are in their surroundings. Babies need blankets to protect them from the unpredictable changing of weather. So, with this, baby blankets are obviously the best gift for new born babies.
